I remembered Twilight by ELO exists, and then the Daicon 4 short, and then I ended up with this pic of Penny a day later.

The fact that the backgrounds are all finished is NOT how I would storyboard this if I was working on it today, ftr. It's like this because I wanted this to look "finished" in some signifigant way, and painting a few bgs was the clearly less intensive answer.

Lastly... I made a comic to go with the paintings!! Woah!!!
This was a lot of practice with paneling, dialogue, and character interaction. I think it went pretty well!

With all the pieces in place, I finally got to working on The Paintings that Would Actually be in the Senior Art Show. Everything up to this was practice and exploration of the concepts.
First was getting circular canvases for planet shaped planet paintings :3

I had the least to work with when it came to the Mars inspired landscape, but I decided to lean into it and you can see it start to feel more desolate as the paintings progress.

The most interesting thing to note with the earth-inspired planet is that by the digital planning sketch I'd decided to draw insp from joshua trees, which I think helped make it less generic looking than it just being a "forest"

Next was the Venus inspired planet, which I always imagined to be a mix of this white hot glowing magma and dark smoky plumes of gas. The second acrylic landscape is one of my favorites out of the whole batch planet designs.
