If we all fell into a 100-year sleeping curse, would anyone actually be upset about it?

"Hide n' seek" might be one of the oldest games in the world, dating back to the 2nd century BCE. In Greece, it was called "apodidraskinda", and played much the same way we play it today.

It may be that it teaches young children to hunt, track, and yes, hide.

Your body is an altar for your ancestors. Buy yourself flowers. Eat wild strawberries. Dress yourself in oceans.

All your joy is an offering.

You dream one night you are a seal, twisting through the kelp like poetry. It was just a dream, of course. But there are days when you know, somewhere far away, it is a high tide. And when you draw a bath, once in a while, the hot bubbles turn to seafoam.

Wellness influencers say to live a natural lifestyle. And I quite agree.

This year I will:

Quit my job and migrate south for the winter.

Sing under the stars, so my family can always find me.

Develop a root system, reach into the bedrock, and talk to the dead about poetry.

You talk about growing older like it's a sadness. I want to grow old like the primeval woods, like a family curse that lives in the unforgiving shadows. I want to grow old like a mossy boulder, tattooed everywhere with dead romance languages.
