@Yuneveno @BayhanJulusmole @sakaimii I want to add. "Yandere otome game", not pictured in that timeline, was originally written very shortly before Kenkyou, though I dunno how it ranks in terms of popularity.

There were also "otome game rival" stories that never got mainstream publication, predating even Yandere.
