thinking about how the first time katara & aang practiced waterbending together, the session went pretty terribly. fast forward a couple of years, and waterbending becomes such a vital way for them to spend time together/their love language.

despite having just been brought back from the dead, aang still manages to muster a small smile at the sight of katara. remember that aang didn’t realize she brought him back to life until “the awakening.” so his smile really is just because he’s so relieved to see her safe.
