I like that the fatal weakness of the Eva is that it needs a ton of power to operate, so it has to stay plugged into the city grid. Mundane things like that keep the weirder sci fi bits grounded.

And switching to battery power comes with a countdown timer. For added tension!

Anyway, you know the drill. Inexperienced child soldier deployed, ineffective, yadda yadda...

Look I know it's a serious show.

But I like that there's at least one person in this city who's as excited about the robots fighting the giant aliens as I am.
