Little Egret Egretta garzetta No. 1 alighting on a Weeping Willow Salix babylonica exactly a year ago today.
@WriterWillsy @BBCSpringwatch Here you go @WriterWillsy, one from 2016 of another very confiding European Robin Erithacus rubecula that lived in a local park. He would come just as close as the current one. Here his is with his first chick, also to become hand-tame before being ousted by its parents.
Two photographs from the garden today of a Four-spotted Nephus Ladybird Nephus quadrimaculatus @UKLadybirds @rlewington2, one of the 'inconspicuous' ladybirds and so small that it could have easily been overlooked.
As I was watching the birds I could see movement out of the corner of my eye and I initially thought that a loose dog was walking along the path. However the gait was wrong for a dog so I glanced over. This Red Fox Vulpes vulpes sauntered past, stopped and turned around. Posing!
@Matt_Greenwings @rlewington2 @SJ_Naturalist I think that it is a fairly safe bet that the Violet Carpenter Bee in the final photograph was not the one used as a basis for @rlewington2 's superb illustration! Still managed to fly though.
Portrait of the Red Fox Vulpes vulpes dog fox from last night - before the heavens opened!
Sixteen-spot Ladybirds Tytthaspis sedecimpunctata are fairly hard to spot - small and well camouflaged @UKLadybirds @wildlife_uk
