One last thought: imagine a comics show where there are no movie stars, almost no cosplay, no banners, booths or ads featuring movies, TV shows or games. Just COMICS, from all over the world. A show that’s not in sterile convention center w/ overpriced food. Imagine

Someday (hopefully soon), I’ll get the story behind Grand Prix winner Rumiko Takahashi’s absence from Angouleme Festival 2020. Posters of her work were everywhere, but no art show, a few books, & more than a few disappointed fans (imho)

There was manga to be found at outside of Manga City - In the Nouvelle Monde (New World) tent, was showcasing Hisashi Eguchi ‘s “Stop!! Hibari-kun!” and the manga that inspired the netflix foodie series, “Midnight Diner”

And Shotaro Ishinomori didnt draw/write just superhero comics. He created in a variety of genres for kids and adults, sci-fi and historical, for male & female readers. We’ve only seen a small fraction of his work in English
