I saw a face in the background. I widen the canvas, stretch out a portion of the image and blur it so I have a basis to paint on. This looks like some kind of ancient being on a burning mountain. I think I'll keep going with it.

I run the image through several filters until I get four that I like, and I'll choose one of them to proceed with.

@HassySoda I'm fascinated by the process. The act of making is in it of itself a meaningful activity versus looking at a finished piece. Because I'm a human being, I'll try to find meaning in the splotches of color and texture. Attached are related digital mashups I did on my phone.
