On this day in Texas history, in 1923, the Dr Pepper Company was incorporated in Dallas. Pharmacists Charles Alderton invented the drink in 1885, in Waco, mixing 23 fruit extracts and sweeteners. He named it after Dr. Charles T. Pepper, a VA physician with whom Alderton worked.
