A little Australopithecus portrait. Admittedly probably not very accurate anatomy, as I based it on a sketch I did 2 years ago. More of an exercise in rendering than a rigorous reconstruction.
@Alpharius_lives Finally, I began the process of blocking in areas of the painting, then a "modelling" stage where I refine
the planes and forms, and finally a detail stage, where I add stuff such as the scales and caustic lighting. Very important to look at lots of photos for lighting ref.
@Alpharius_lives I start out creating various monochromatic compositions which I then experiment with over and over until finding a composition I like. I look at wildlife photos of pelagic fish as well as paintings by the amazing artist Stanley Meltzoff for inspiration.
My first #PortfolioDay post!
I'm Dhruv and I most enjoy painting what the world once was, although any creature-related art is cool.
A commission for a friend. A group of Smilodon fatalis watching over their territory.
Did a few quick commissions for @ProjectDAS. Here are a few: Daptocephalus, Diarthrognathus, Haldanodon, and Eomaia. The designs are his.
#paleoart of Arctodus simus! Meant to be more of a fur study than anything though, to be honest.
