We finally add the (sketchy) neon strip in the bg and those juicy rim lights that just scream cyberpunk aesthetic.
Magenta light with a cyan rim light how original diego! /s

Anyways, no, rim lights are not just a flat lines, if drawn carefully they add more shape to her!

Here I add a layer on top of everything to add highlights to add those nice touches of magenta that hit her directly. You can see how much more we can "feel" the shapes now, almost looking 3D! Always keep an eye on the reference picture! you might get weird eyes but w/e

All shadow work is done in a multiply layer, that looks like this! I usually use colors that will match with the bouncing lights so that the character fits in nicely with the bg. I tend to lock the layer and add different tones where needed!

And after all of those steps we finally start to "paint". Never start painting without a solid foundation, you'll regret it and waste time fixing the drawing!! We*keep* paying close attention to the reference to make those folds look believable, rather than "realistic"

I deleted my color test... 🙃. Oh well, this is the next step, I decide on flat colors before moving to any kind of shadows, lights. I fell in love with the colored lights in my photo reference so I keep a fairly cool/cold palette! I add weird streaks in the hair,cause reasons

I start with very lose sketches to start finding a nice composition. Most of this sketches are only for me so as long as I understand them we're good!
