One of my students asked me how to paint beard (we're doin master studies rn) and I told them to always observe the flow and rest/detailed areas. Hair clump is important in terms of grouping but these 2 things make it natural.

2-value studies are so hard when there's a white element involved. Usually, it comes down to what you're focusing on (eg. comp, contrast, light/shadow groupings).

Here, I chose to focus on light/shadow groupings and a little comp.
