Did Donkey Kong Country 2 and 3's inclusion of a game-ending secret Lost World give anyone else a fear that there was also a Lost World in the original game that you never unlocked? I would have nightmares about it being in the map's first DK head and not being able to reach it!

*Precise release dates from the era are hard to peg down: This predated Friday as Nintendo's designated release day and DKC3 didn't have a strict-on-sale embargo! But we've crunched the numbers and the 18th is the earliest stores COULD have received it. Happy bear-thday DKC3!

I don't think younger fans or those who weren't active back then can appreciate just how popular Tiptup was in the Donkey Kong Universe fandom of the late 1990s. A beloved icon who everyone had pegged as the next Rare megastar with their own game.

Alas...

Amusingly, in Rare's final DK game, Diddy Kong Racing DS, they made new character models for the entire cast. This included more pronounced TOOTHY GRINS for Diddy and even Tiptup and Krunch!
