On May 1st, 1949, the essay 'Why Socialism?' was published in the first issue of Monthly Review, written by actual genius, Albert Einstein.

It addresses some of the main & ongoing problems with capitalism, predatory economic competition, & growing wealth inequality.

With the decline of the welfare state & public services, 'personal independence' now translates to 'personal responsibility'.

Following the imposition of ideological #austerity, council funding has been cut by 49%.

Essential public services have either been privatised or replaced with faceless profit-motivated corporate outsourcers, with only a superficial concern for the places in which they operate.

Boris Johnson & many others dismissed taking the knee as "gesture politics", failed to condemn "fans" booing the #England team, & consistently downplay clear evidence of structural & institutional #racism, yet the Head of MI5 says racism in England is "toxic" & "widespread". 🤔

#GBNews fans: I know some of us on the Left ARE too quick to demonize people we disagree with. I get that.

But "wokeism" isn't the main problem: insecure work & wealth inequality is - $30 TRILLION is hoarded offshore! Having our own Fox News will make Britain EVEN MORE divided.
