Depression & a debilitating nerve condition in his right hand.
Tragically Greg Lake, ELP's singer/bass player d. 9 months later, same yr.
Without Pete Townshend, The Who never could have happened. Its Pete's B-Day. One of the Greatest Songwriters Ever & also one of the Greatest Guitarists Ever. I've seen The Who many X's but the original line-up I only saw once, Civic Arena 1971, Who's Next Tour. Happy B-Day Pete!
