The Scarlet Empress saw the first appearance of Iris Wildthyme in the Eighth Doctor Adventures. Here she is illustrated by @PaulJamesHanley.

Iris had previously featured in Old Flames, a Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith story from the first volume of Short Trips.

In Placebo Effect the Doctor and Sam meet Stacy and Ssard, the Doctor's companions from the Radio Times comic strip (also written by Gary Russell).
