Day 341: Bearded Vulture

This bird is also called Lammergeier (lamb-vulture, German) or Ossifrage (bone-breaker, Latin). Both names do more justice to this extremely metal bird 🤟

Lammies are scavengers whose diet is 85-90% bone marrow.

THEY. EAT. SKELETONS. ☠️

Day 207: Swallow-Tailed Kite

Alright, let's get this pandering over with. Swallow-tailed kites are just unbelievably cool. Seriously, these are crowd-pleaser birds. Frankly, they make bald eagles look like big yawn-inducing babies.

Check 'em out.

Day 98: Ross' Gull

Now, ROGU are one of those "These probably exist, but I'm just taking peoples' word for it" kind of birds. The main reason being that they're almost totally restricted to the high arctic.

But yes, a pink gull exists, and it's cute as a button.

Day 92: Inca Tern

This one goes out to

These lip-luggage laden larids breed on the coast of Peru and Chile. Inca Terns are one of a handful of birds that make me self-conscious about my facial hair.

Day 59: Sandhill Crane

This was actually the first bird I drew and I was saving it for when I simply didn't have the energy.

Don't let that take away from the majesty of the Sandhill Crane. They don't stay long in the Okanagan but their flyovers are well received

Day 48: American Dipper

This one comes with a little extra since I've been enjoying my vacation in Jasper. The birding is pretty quiet, but the challenge is half the fun!

American Dippers live solely on rocky streams, foraging for insect larvae and small fish!
