Illustration I did a while ago for Grant Allen’s hypnotic Folk Horror tale ‘Pallinghurst Barrow’ 1892. A weird red glow emanates from the longbarrow in the field facing a country estate, malign, invisible presences can be felt all around and the King of the Dead is about to waken
Recent Aquisition: ‘Celtic Wonder Tales’ by Ella Young, Illustrated by Maud Gonne, 1910. Maud Gonne was a fascinating figure, Irish Revolutionary, Suffragette and muse to W B Yeats. This signed copy also has a pen and ink illustration to the ffep of one of the vignette designs
