I re-read the scene to make sure I got it right (I read the books years ago and my memory isn't that good). I wasn't sure which direction take, so I did a bunch of unreadable thumbnails and then this sketches, they are still rough but you can understand what happens.

I did this painting some months ago for the spanish illustrated edition of Mistborn, released early this month.

This one had to be a bit different than the others, brighter, the composition inspired by romantic novel covers. They are both wearing elegant matching outfits and dancing in front of Buckinham's palace. The zeppelins and the aether pistol give it the twist of fantasy.

Here Ruby changes her man's suit for a more femenine outfit. The briefing descrived her as a “Sexy and fierce underworld queen—quietlypowerful. Gorgeous dress and showing cleavage.”.

This cover had to feature Nathan in his laboratory manipulating cogs/gears, etc. in the air. I focused in the character and the magic.
This time he's clothes are more elegant, with a top hat and spectacles. The outfit had some gold/copper decorations to match the gears.
