In the 1800s, artists mined the past in beautiful ways. Drawing from myths & Romantic poetry, their paintings evoked a fairy-tale sense of love & romance, with the magical look of the Middle Ages —from knights to maidens. ❤️

In honour of Super Bowl weekend, here are some fun Norman Rockwell football works, circa 1930s-1960s. Can you guess which one he based on a Michelangelo sculpture? Have a great weekend & Go Kansas City! 🏈☺️

Here’s to a fresh month & Happy Feb 1st. ☺️I love these vintage calendars below: we have two golfers in their tweeds working on their short game in the snow 😂, & two by the late, great Kate Greenaway, circa 1880-90s. ❤️
Some fairy-tale images are forever, & Doré’s 1862 wood-engravings, for The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods, are just that to me. I love the gothic arch of trees & tangled growth that the prince must face alone. Doré always cast a spell.

A few more of Dulac’s beautiful illustrations of Cinderella for your Sat. Perrault gave us baroque details, like the glass slipper, while Dulac makes 17th-cen France look accurate, yet magical. Happy Sat to you all 💫💕x
Not sure I’ll be able to sleep again. So I’m wishing I could jump into Edmund Dulac’s stunning illustration tonight and into the world of Cinderella. Sweet dreams, x 💫💕
Batten down the hatches —we’re heading back to work. Coffee on an iv drip: vital. Sense of dread: pervasive. As a visual balm, here are some Rockwell scenes of historic dread: post-Xmas back to school, the bar exam, and the terror of a blank page. ❤️

Here are some wonderful scenes from Charles Dickens’ Xmas Eve ghost story, “A Christmas Carol,” done by Norman Rockwell’s nostalgic hand. I love them, especially Mr. & Mrs. Fezziwig 😂! Merry Xmas Eve, everyone! 🎄☺️☃️❄️❤️
