I’m devastated.
I’ve been following Kim Jung Gi for years, since around when I was in Middle School. When I started getting really serious into art and into illustration. This man, this master class of a visual artist was unlike no other. Rest in Piece legend. You were special.
First Turnaround Sheet Ever for one of my OC’s for a Comic Book line I’ve been working on for months. Very happy with how it’s developing.
4) Dave McKean
A true visionary, truly. Personally, as both an artist who appreciates illustration and abstraction, his work is such a brilliant mix of mediums, context, tone, and visual language. Nothing could top his visual style to the Arkham Asylum stories or in Sandman.
2) Jim Cheung
Cheung is almost a direct opposite in terms of why I love Ramos. The stoic nature, almost statue-like presence of his illustrations feel grounded. Human in a way, but yet still captures that fantasy aspect in comics. Plus, his shading; particular and specific.
Thread of my favorite comic book artist influences:
1) Humberto Ramos
What I love most? The expressiveness in his poses for various characters, almost a full extension of the facial expressions. The way he distorts anatomy just slightly to allow any character to feel loose.
Here’s the first official page of my personal comic book project; ‘The New Hires’. Along with some details of the page.
Getting super excited about getting it started.
Figured I’d do a ‘little’ tease for a very big project I’m working on in the comfort of knowing I’ll be graduating with more time on my hands.
I’ll post an update realistically in a few weeks so be interested.
@elliotg44 ayo we really had this moment right here, I really pulled a fast one on you HAHAHA
