lol Dream is the BIGGEST ASSHOLE in this arc. It's one of the best from the series, but he's so detached and absolutely abusive and shitty to everyone.
Jill Thompson may have drawn the best Del. It was always a toss up between her and Marc Hempel for my favorite Sandman artist, although I did this this art suffered a bit from the inking.
The Zulli pencil work in the Wake had the softness Thompson bit needed.
Wanda's arc is *really* good. Thessaly is a TERF, apparently. Figures.
Wanda gets a defiant speech about herself, which I really like. She's bucking her family's traditions, who cares about Gods?
It's a sweet ending despite it all.
I wonder if Wanda is the first trans character in a DC comic. Seems likely, but I haven't ever seen anyone claim this.
Her family is pretty mean to her and she dies tragically, so avoid this story if that's not for you. I think it's ok, but not the highest point of Sandman.
Ah I see Gaiman and Kelly Jones were the true origin of the "My Lord" tiddy game advertising campaign. Always playing the long game, Neil
I've never verified this, but I would bet at least some of the inspiration for Desire came from Patrick Nagel. There were a lot of versions of Desire, and a lot of artists on the series, but I would guess this is pretty core to the character and design.
When Neil Gaiman approached DC Editors and asked "Can I kill Element Girl?" they responded with, "WHO?!?"
Element Girl is the female version of Metamorpho.
Painted this on stream last night--look for me several times this weekend while I'm streaming the work I'll be doing for the Ludum Dare 48 #LudumDare #pinupart #Bunnysuit
I'm really quite hype for this.
Expect extra streaming content as we create whatever unknown thing we're going to create...
