The Zssan that appears in #46 is based on the Zssa from ZZ Gundam and is designed by Takeshi Takakura. They wanted to incorporate an MS that would do more than just shoot beams & missiles, so it was hastily added to the storyboard process with ideas like wires & extendable arms.
There is much to suggest that Tomino approves of G Gundam. At the 1998 Gundam Big Bang Declaration he declared that his new project would "affirm" all Gundam series thus far—"including G Gundam"—and as such it's the only AU title that is unambiguously referenced in Turn A.

Dianna-Kihel and Agrippa Maintainer face off as riots break out in the capital city, and the show begins to transition to its final arc. This is the last episode to feature Atsuo Tobe as animation director.
