Xenogears draws a lot from mecha anime—IIRC Takahashi and his son are even SRW fans—with some pretty obvious cues taken from Gundam, Macross, the Yuusha series, etc., and there's cognizant effort put into emphasizing size & scale.
It's really fascinating to imagine the journey the game's development itself had; originally a proposal for Final Fantasy VII and then a sequel-in-the-works to Chrono Trigger, it was realized as an entirely different project. It's likely why traces of "CT" are still leftover.
The "SDGs Preamble Liberal Interpretation Project" brings in socially-minded guests to narrate UN SDG preambles. The first speaker is Rieko Takahashi (Dianna-Kihel's VA) and they rewrote hers to mimic Kihel's speech from ep #18 of Turn A.
