Can't forget Andy Warhol for The Velvet Underground & Nico. An iconic cover – and I think some of the vinyl had a banana that peeled if I remember correctly.
I'm looking through Winslow Homer paintings – look at this 1877 painting I came across at @metmuseum!
"Painted at the end of Reconstruction . . . Homer’s challenging subject evokes both the dislocation and endurance of African American culture that was a legacy of slavery."
I've been watching old episodes of Bewitched and noticed that they have Picasso's 'The Old Guitarist' above their fireplace.

I decided to start a monthly newsletter called Object to aggregate art content I produce (videos, podcasts, etc) into one place, but also as an opportunity to create and share new videos/audio/texts made exclusively for the newsletter. Join me, won't you?

This is 'The Seine' by Henry O. Tanner (1859–1937). He studied under Thomas Eakins in the US and studied in France, where he exhibited at the 1896 Salon. He later worked for the Red Cross during WWI, painting images of African American troops in the war. #bhm #blackhistorymonth
One art historical way to throw shade was via allegorical paintings. Here Salvator Rosa is commenting about the loss of his papal patronage through the allegory of fortune. A pig steps on a rose – a reference to himself. He was almost excommunicated!
