'The Sigillaria' on 19 December was a day of gift-giving during #Saturnalia. The tokens exchanged were called sigillaria (pl) and were often terracotta or wax figures 🧸🐔🐖
Some details ✨ I do not know if/how the inhabitants of #HadriansWall decorated for #Saturnalia, but normally Romans put up greenery and wreaths in their homes. In Roman England they would have had yew and possibly some wayward Scots pine in December🌲🌨️
