As an oversimplification you could say that what I find unique about Beuville's art is that he's a generalist of sorts that is also masterfully accomplished in specialized fields (kind of an oxymoron, I know). And he makes it all look so damn effortless and unpretentious.
That, for me, is plain magic. It's not just the skills, the confidence, the range, the underlying complexity of his images that seem so effortless at a first glance; it's that all those "technical" aspects ultimately translate into exciting and moving images.
Why is he our fav artist? It's quite simple: he manages to bring together the most exciting aspects of art and image making in a way that shouldn't be possible! His plein air painting👇 informed his illustrations, but never sacrificed storytelling for accuracy's sake.
Seriously, Beuville is the real deal. These are all from the same book ("Les beaux messieurs de Bois Doré"), just look at the range, the moods!
More awesome art! Today: 👉Gabrielle Vincent👈 (aka Monique Martin), of "Ernest et Célestine" fame and Jacques Brel enthusiast.
Sunday art inspiration, definitely one of my top five favourite artists of all time: 👉Ferenc Pinter👈
@BourassaArt Awesome, thanks for this! I'm a big fan of Darkest Dungeon and I'd love to do some art inspired by its universe!
