How it started How it ended

So, finally, I needed to mix 3 different light types: one from the moon through the window (natural, for the sides), another stronger from torches to increase visibility in some points and finally one more “antinatural”, from Lady’s self-illuminated-face.

Sketch Final

This is the first quick sketch I made for this project. I’ve changed perspective, aspect ratio & many other details, but seeing Lady Stoneheart arriving to her goal was the intention

For the Maester, I’ve been very influenced by the great Max von Sydow as 3 eyed raven at tv show. Probably, because I needed this dark, slim and solemn shape contrasting with the light and the blurred atmosphere.

About the light, I didn’t want direct and hard light, just a few reflections to define some volumes. I trusted the cloud could allow this logic. They partially hide a low sun out of the camera shot.

Following same logic, I thought Manderly flag could be not very visible: green over turquoise & black details. So I decided to design also my own version according to @westerosorg description. I also used 2 Golden embroidery versions (sides): with merman and just with pattern⬇️

Another effect I wanted to achieve was the atmosphere: cold (northern place) but with full of tries of making it warmer, with wood, colors, forms, sheets...etc. This is the value sketch I made before, inspired too by another game of thrones works like @KBelshaw42 ‘s Bear island
