• this book stole my heart

• linguistics and true crime are two of the subjects I find most fascinating, so a mix of the two was *chef kiss*
• I'll admit I binged Sounds Like A Cult
• fun and accessible, but still really indepth

🎤 IDOL GOSSIP by Alexandra Leigh Young
• I eat up any and every book about musicians, and this was no exception
• this gave me one of those rare visceral reactions of "god, that IS just what it's like to be a teenage girl" even though this is a ,,, niche teen experience

🌲 TAPROOT by Keezy Young
• there is not one Oni Press title that doesn't slap, is there?
• this speaks to me so much!! whimsical, eerie, comforting and a lil bit spooky
• my aesthetic and interests also rest at the intersection of the other side and gardening

with all due respect - what on god's green earth is either of these?

• in this house we stan Angry Girl Fiction™
• generational trauma, curses and folklore
• when I say this is the kind of book you don't want to put down what I mean is "reading over 100 pages by 10am because you can't put it down"

🐔 FRIZZY by Claribel A. Ortega and Rose Bousamra
• THIS WAS SUCH A DELIGHT AND A TREAT
• I'd protect Marlene with my life
• GORGEOUS illustrations
• all about self acceptance and love
• unlearning eurocentric beauty standards
• readers of any age will love this

@tbookishfairy some of my fave board books!! (tho I'll admit anything by Jeffers and Haughton is fab in general) & I always say give the That's Not My & Don't Tickle The series a go to get kids used to textures, I just think they're neat

88. NOTHING BUT BLACKENED TEETH by Cassandra Khaw
• haunting, eerie and captivating
• perfect quick spooky read
• would highly recommend reading in pitch darkness at 5/6am for maximum spooks before you've even properly woken up
• can be devoured in one go
