confident and on the offensive, fearful and letting go of his defenses. both times he acted out of love and care for his friends, even when we didn’t know at first and were unaware of his true self

like. that is a face full of fear and, considering that the previous golden guard who was his mentor died, i’m sure he already has trauma related to that. also he’s.. the only adult character in the series that we know has canonically lost a loved one to death.

the show really at first tried to make darius seem so cold, calculating, confident, and composed, but the first time we ever see him so truly in distress and drop all his defenses is when his loved ones are in danger/about to die. he has so many emotions that he never shows 😭
