I understand that THE DOORS was criticised for being indulgent and vulgar. Not all of it works (Meg Ryan), but imagine what could’ve been if BOHEMIAN RHAPSOSY and ROCKETMAN had directors as keen on bold and brash as Oliver Stone, instead of being sanitised soundtrack generators.
I don’t know how to explain it, but Abel Ferrara’s BODY SNATCHERS has such a palpable and unsettling energy to it. Right down to its DNA of Ferrara making a alarmingly sincere yet satiral sci-fi that looks like a jeans commercial that constantly threatens to become THE ROOM.
Brief thoughts on SCREAM, QUEEN! MY NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and HORROR NOIRE: A HISTORY OF BLACK HORROR. Docs about horror movies that take the position of minority audiences who often take to the genre more deeply and personal. https://t.co/Vau3T7IyIW
