Both Cersei and Jaime are complex characters. Many ASOIAF characters are extremely complex and gray. GRRM is writing in a way that tells us any humans can change due to circumstances such as loss of loved ones, betrayal (that can lead to misanthropy and paranoia) and so on and on

Jaime and Cersei Lannister died 2 years ago(2019).
