The Ironborn, however, I decided have stronger ties of relation to the commoners (specifically the First Men rather then the Andals), so are more evidently East Asian or North Pacific, although their costumes are more southern Westeros and more European than the Starks.

Here was the first set I drew. My goal was to make the setting somewhat, but not entirely, less northern European. That's more evident in their costumes than their faces, though, because these are all still royalty who are all related to each other across the continent.

People have been posting the books that made them the artists they are today so here's a couple of mine. It took me forever to find the first one. I think I figured out why I haven't seen this book since I was a kid. 👀

Maida doesn't look like she did the first time I drew her in 2007. That hair is nuts. It changed drastically by the second time I drew her. But reading the character description that goes with it, it's weird how little that's changed.
