Finished. English style, mid 15th century style with a little bit if Italian influence on the top. The tallest pair I've made to date.
Started to work on a format for 'fixing' movie armour. A contemporary and modern style illustration looking at what it should have been like. My first proper go on the @wacom tablet with artrage. Let's just say I cant blame the tools. Wallace in a 1300 style illumination.
Adding bracelets to these 14th cent English style gauntlets. When the originals were built the world had just dealt a series of plagues, climate change, shockingly dubious leadership, massive civil unrest and economic calamities ... hopefully not linked to gauntlet manufacture!
Started assembling a gauntlet and wasn't happy with the feel of it on the hand. Making another to rectify this. The customer and I have similar sized hands; so if it isn't comfortable with me it won't be with him either. Not what I planned today, but what can you do :)
Mid 15th century English style gauntlets all finished. Taken from the 1440 made effigy of John Harington who died in 1418.
Some gold plated brass decoration will be added later to the cuffs.
All finished and onto his greaves. The arms of Edward of Woodstock, the Black Prince. Based upon his effigy held in @No1Cathedral
Nice chilly day to close with some hot work. Greaves taking shape.
