He's weakened during this and is holding back a bit. In the comics it's because he doesn't want to kill T'Challa's little sister, in the MCU because he doesn't want to kill Shuri (personal connection and allyship, all that jazz).

So anyway, it was a set-up by Dr. Doom. Both parties made his job easier because Namor was sketchy af and obnoxious while Shuri arrogantly demanded explanations ready to batter him in flour.

They're not ones to stand down and modestly chitchat over tea, to say the least.

Namor only humored her and didn't immediately go to k-word her ass because he respected T'Challa, not really because he cared for or respected her. I mean, it is their first meeting after all. Why would he? Both of them strongly believe in earned trust and respect too.

I love that for her, but poor choice really. Shuri, you really should work on that arrogance baby girl. Atleast boast and do your winner jig once he has been impaled in place or something ☠️

Anyway, their fight was not as intimate, an equal give-take, and personal here.

They could've been a match made in heaven on the same side (I guess?) but they're most certainly not.

Unlike the MCU, Namor did not come out of the gate intrigued and genuinely resonating with her. He looked down at Shuri, brushing her off. Shuri was having none of that shit ☠️
