I headcanon that Amy Rose is a plant mom and her starter was this little cactus
They work so well together. Sally was the catalyst to Khan being a better person, and Khan was effectively Sally's anchor who dotes on her but also firmly respects his little miss independent.
Everything Sally needed (as a character and a future ruler) in a man Khan embodied 🤷♀️.
Tails the Fox is an example you will start to notice I do this a lot with, I just like warmer and more colorful palettes unless it's colder or more muted for a character-related reason tbh. https://t.co/sijD3eAGgB
@Alex_Hedgefox2 @spider_genesis The two first ones transitioned into the two latter ones. He still kept details like a stomach indent and body shape, but he simplified it. The more humanoid approach mellowed out a bit in general. Rouge and Sally reflected this.
I don't mean anything beyond that observation.
@Sonic_IDW_heat Exactly my point. It doesn't help that even in the SatAm Bible they tried to carve her out as an "attractive" teenage girl, but that doesn't mean her design was inherently the problem. It didn't start out like this, it was the artist's art choice.
@Amyrosesimp1 Even then it wasn't the reboot that first "fixed" the issue, it was well-adjusted at times before the Super Genesis Wave too.
Even if you don't like "naked" Sally, she is totally Sonic-esque here.
So yeah, it was an artist "problem" than an innately Sally one.
It has been proven time and time again Sally could be drawn in a way that is tame, adherent to Sonic anatomy, or non-sexual since the beginning and at the end of the comics. It's not her fault, and she was not the only one by a long shot. Have you seen Bunnie or Hershey?
Sonic and most of the male cast save for examples barely any casual knows exist in comparison (Drago the Wolf) wasn't given the same treatment. They largely retained the official SEGA Sonic standard of design-style (e.g., rubberhose), thus contributing to the glaring contrast.
Furthermore, both Amy (physically Sally's age), Mina (16), and Rouge (18) are, at the same time, drawn with more Sonic-like proportions when Sally is drawn otherwise. Steven Butler even admitted it was just his stylistic choice flr her, so it isn't since "Sally is older" either.
