FRIENDSHIP ENDED WITH ENG MAYOI NOW JPN MAYOI IS MY BEST FRIEND
The most beautiful man in the world

The docks scene particularly suffers for it because his reactions are literally so good. He has serious and comedic moments in this scene...and I'll always be annoyed by the fact his reaction to John staying in Japan was virtually cut. LOOK AT HIS REACTION. IT'S A LOT
It's also in his body language. When I look at his panels, I imagine he'd be a joy to animate. He looks really bouncy and flexible and full of energy! But the anime...really didn't wanna deal with that, clearly. Even looking at stills, his poses are just...much less dynamic
The anime also cut all mentions of his success diary (unless you count the 'biography' in the docks scene...with no context...) which is a shame because it says so very much about his character! What I wanna focus on more tho is panel-to-shot comparison cuz that's TRULY the worst
Similarly there's this. Anime: he's just standing there blank-faced. Manga? He screams and whines about being 'injured' and not getting help from John. He tears up at Lucy's story. And he AGAIN asks everyone to hang out with him and gets rejected. So much range in one scene
It all started because this moment wouldn't leave my brain. I couldn't figure out why until I realised. These are polar opposites. Anime Twain is cool, relaxed. He's a part of the group. Manga Twain? A puppy. Ditched by everyone. Just wants to hang out...but nobody wants him
Well I think I need a rubber tonight
