Because of all the negativity surrounding China and coronavirus, I want to highlight a positive news about the aquatic life of the Yangtze River as China has imposed a 10-year commercial fishing ban on the Yangtze in a bid to protect its biodiversity.

Scientists have created an “artificial leaf” that could turn carbon dioxide into fuel. The new technology was inspired by the way plants use the sun to turn carbon dioxide into glucose and oxygen but is 10x more efficient than the natural photosynthesis. Source: @Independent

Non-governmental organization GivePower @GivePowerFdn has built a solar water farm in Kenya, turning saltwater into clean and sustainable drinking water. The farm uses a filtrating system that desalinates the brackish liquid to produce enough water for 35,000 people every day.

The technology, called prime editing, has been described as a "genetic word processor" able to accurately re-write the genetic code.
