I’ve been talking about feelings over on IG for #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. Ironic* that it’s also the month my mental health has been tested more than any other.
*Not actually sure if this classifies as ironic.
Happy #kidlitartpostcard day! I’m Heidi M. Rogers, writer of contemporary YA and author-illustrator of picture books with all the feels.

These are the last three panels I created for #advent_challenge. I like how they came out all together. #advent_challenge2021
My panel for the #advent_challenge2021 theme “candlelight.”

Not a lot of photos of the Scioto Madtom (pronounced extinct this month), as it was last seen in 1957.
I’ve struggled to draw recently with the environmental issues weighing on my mind. I decided to take extra time away from writing to draw the species that were just moved from the endangered list to “extinct” (in North America). This is Bachman’s Warbler. #kidlitforclimate
Another portfolio piece I worked on in July. #archesnationalpark #kidlitart #picturebookportfolio
Overall, I made 5 pieces for #MerMay this year. I had never participated before, but it was really fun to work on. I love the ocean, sea creatures, water...so it should have been a no-brainer. Plus, the novel I just finished writing may or may not feature a mermaid myth. 😉
I drew another mermaid for #MerMay. This one is stretching, one of my favorite daily activities. It helps me physically and emotionally.
I’ve never participated in #MerMay before over on IG, but yesterday I felt inspired to try.
