Let's all wish Resident Evil 4 a happy birthday! It was released on this day back in 2005.
A true landmark that managed to change the entire gaming industry. It's widely considered one of the best video games of all time. Love to see it.

They didn't intend the game to feature any characters from the previous games. These three mercenaries were new characters named Carlos Oliviera, Nicholai Ginovaef, and Mikhail Victor.
Sounds familiar?
So.
Because there was still some time until PlayStation 2's launch, Capcom had to make another Resident Evil. The industry was competitive and there were many new games for people to spend their money on. They had to make another game to fill the gap until the next game arrived.
The initial plan was to make Nemesis a spinoff at first. But console politics was still a thing back then and due to reasons (monetary, I assume), they decided to keep the numbered entries on PlayStation, while keeping the spinoffs for other consoles.
