I mean, I still don't understand the game too much but it's definitely not a deterrent from staying engaged. If anything the anime does a great job of visualizing the interworkings of the game, and the multitude of emotions that each character face.

I mean just look at Hachimitsu to Clover. I still watch it once and a while and still get all the feels, especially when you've got a beautiful soundtrack that makes you wanna reminisce and get all nostalgic.
