That's part of why I think the anime is so beloved. Additions are made to the story/characters that never feels tacked on. The focus is primarily given to Ichigo's problems, but slowing down the pacing makes the build up with her relationship to Aoyama much more satisfying.
As I stated I would, I'm making a thread regarding the Tokyo Mew Mew Manga. I'll be highlighting some key differences compared to the show and mainly talking about what makes the manga work as a Shoujo series and why it most likely boomed overtime. Let's get started! Long THREAD. https://t.co/WJqD6EsQY8
Mint probably got it the worst. Her neat buns and dress made her look very elegant. Her motif is not only based on a bird but also being graceful. The loose hair and dress takes that feeling away immensely and it kind of messes with her original design silhouette.
Each girl being based off an animal their original designs reflected that. For example, Lettuce having a one piece suit was more akin to a swimming suit. She transformed into a mermaid multiple times throughout the show. Her core outfit showcases that underwater theme.
Tokyo Mew Mew New Reboot got the promotional art released. Considering we saw Ichigo's outfit first, I'm rather mixed on the redesigns. I think it's hard to recapture that charm of the original. THREAD
