i did a different thing for this one though: painted in greyscale first, then threw on a gradient map and a bunch of adjustment layers, then painted on top of that with color

as you can see at the top of thread, sometimes i pick very wrong colors and have to course-correct

i don't tend to use all the colors i pick out at the start, it's more like a menu of options
