Maybe many of us would have wished Dougier's demise on the spot but it did not happen. Wriothesley will not break his own rules, and thus Dougier ended up awaiting retributive punishment as deserved.
Yet in his treatment of Dougier, the contempt he has for such loathsome acts becomes clear, that this man has lived through a horrifying childhood that he was nearly going to end Dougier on the spot, yet he pulled himself back from it.
Kaveh who's been putting up a brave front, not that anyone knows what befell him, and yet with one look, Alhaitham knew Kaveh was in a very bad way. I still think about this scene often.
Ironically, the moment Neuvillette realizes his feelings, it starts to rain from the resonance; and dull the people's moods. Eventually, the skies do clear as Neuvillette moves on from the guilt of his past.
Neuvillette's story quest reminds me of two things: not to be kept a prisoner of your past, and that the only constant is change. The long-lived being is caught in his own web, believing only that the past foretold the future.
