I was particularly fond of "As Far as the Eye", which can cleverly become the acronym "A FATE".

If you combined the gameplay of Zelda, the charm/wit of Undertale, and the positive mental health vibes of Celeste into a single game, you'd get . It is wonderful, heartfelt, and imo a mustplay for any artist/creator who's ever struggled with burnout or imposter syndrome.

A lot of modern design still uses cursive. See: the logo on the cover of the newest Harley Quinn comics series. (Expand and look at the top if the crop kills it which it probably will lol)

And stands an example of girls' media as its finest, the end result of taking women & girls seriously enough to let them tell the stories they want to tell, stories whose quality transcends their demographic to be worthy of celebration by all ages & genders.

Years of animation industry adjacency have shown me how poorly girls' media is perceived. Pitches are often rejected because girls "aren't worth it" or dumbed down because girls "don't know better". Few execs take girls seriously enough to greenlight quality media for them

I won't argue whether either show deserves to hold that position over the other, because it's a moot point. Both are magnificent, genre-defining stories that should be on the viewing list of every person who's even remotely interested in animation or storytelling.

That spot has been consistently (and VERY deservingly) held by venerable fantasy epic Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood for OVER TEN YEARS, and it was finally unseated from its position by third and final season.

after Killzone they pivoted to make Horizon: Zero Dawn which has an inspirationally hopeful narrative with futurist anti-corporate themes, several incidental LGBTQIA+ characters, and whose main char has become a feminist gaming icon

is wholesome, earnest, uplifting, profound, and completely devoid of edginess, which are five things I never thought I’d say about an isekai anime. The first ep is a bit of a struggle, but five more are all it needs to win your heart. Just a lovely show.
