The part that's meaningful is that... When Saiou and Mizuchi use their power, their eyes glow in purplish pink.
Do I think it's a color out of space reference? I'll pretend I don't because it'd be quite bold of me. However this color serves the same purpose.

And then they return to the positions they had as kids, next to and facing each other

-101: i don't have much to say abt the duel but this scene where Edo has visions of going toward Saiou, not facing him, and when he turns his face is that of a demon

then Saiou duelling in Edo's body. Technically close but Edo cannot face him

-93: 20 ep of ignoring each other later, Saiou is the one walking toward Edo and facing him. arguably he isn't physically there (and maybe not mentally)

Before we continue, a word in the flashback. They are both physically close, facing or side by side. In the first flashback though, we do not see their separate position, only Saiou looking at Edo from above
