every paleoartist should pick a pet blorbo creature to love and draw a lot even though its like nobody's favorite. not even necessarily YOUR favorite either. just adopt an underappreciated long dead critter to champion. Mines this thing.
Another thing I'm really excited for in digital art is variety within brush strokes. I really love Kritas rgba brushes, heavypaint's color noise, paintstorm & art studio pros bristles, rebelles thick paint, etc. csp isnt built for this but ive tried to emulate the look
Experimental oviraptor sketch. playing around with loose brushwork and textures. A lot of fun!
im about to cover this all up (or delete it if i get bored but can i just say how much i love all the dirty nasty textures in greg rutkowskis brushpack. sorry i dont have names for these brushes csp decided to ignore all those in favor of "sampled brush 87" but theyre in there
I like to add a sharpen filter to emphasize texture on paintings. It can really help bring out the textures of natural brushes, and I just really like the crunchy look in general.
my favorite painting warmup/exercise is "orb". Sometimes I remember to save them. I find it can be a fun way to experiment w brushes, brushwork, technique, color, etc. No pressure, no stakes. Just having fun making an Orb.
