Brilliant story here about how an artistic collective of the 1990s that called itself 'Luther Blissett', after the Watford footballer, may have inspired the QAnon conspiracy cult in America. And it's not even April 1st! https://t.co/tWeCwXSJx3
Beep beep. It's the birthday of Jan van Goyen (1596-1656). I've always found him a tough watch. How many low, flat, wet, grey Dutch landscapes does a fellow need? But the technique is brilliant. Painted on wood. Using earth colours he ground himself. The real colours of the land.
It's my birthday. I'm lucky to share it with 3 notable people. The first is the singer Long John Baldry. The second is the painter John Singer Sargent. The third is @flanamar7 who used to run the Press at the Metropolitan Museum. She was the best they ever had! Big hug Mary!
#HomeSchoooling5 Todays' artist is El Greco. He lived from 1541 to 1614. El Greco was famous for painting really tall people. Can you paint a tall person like El Greco? Or a tall animal? What's the tallest you can make them? Maybe they're so tall they won't fit on the paper!1/
1/ #HomeSchoooling2 Today's artist is Georgia O'Keeffe. She lived in America. Her favourite subject was flowers - really, really BIG flowers. Draw or paint a really, really big flower like Georgia O'Keeffe! With nice colours. Don't forget to sign your picture and add the hashtag.
Beep beep. It's the birthday of the awful French painter Louis Hector Leroux (1829-1900). Even by the standards of the mid-19th century, Leroux was a ridiculous artist. His speciality was various orders of classical priesthood. Today, you look at his work and ask yourself: Why?
My favourite fish art, as discussed on Waldy&Bendy's Adventures in Art, Season 2 episode 4! https://t.co/qeDYOzOnRe
@Saudah_Pop @paulmyszor @Coldwar_Steve With an enlarged cast! The van Gogh was based on Dore too.
If you missed my harsh review of Arctic at the British Museum, it's here. https://t.co/3fp3OasluR Did I really say: 'It feels as if it learnt much of its anthropology from watching Frozen'? I'm afraid so. That's why I try hard to make up for it on tomorrow's Waldy&Bendy podcast!
Beep beep. If I say to you it's the birthday of Willem van de Velde the Younger (1633-1707) your heart won't miss a beat. If I tell you he specialised in boat pictures, it will make it worse: no one likes boat pictures. But van de Velde's are especially sensitive. Just saying!
