2007: The Darkness

Teen Jen adored this fucking game. Running around a hub-based FPS, wielding a dark power that could just eat someone’s heart clean out of their chest, hearing a bunch of generic mafia goons shouting “AYY JACKIE, YA FUCKIN’ DONEZO!” A true immature delight.

2018: Celeste

It had been years since we were in our Super Meat Boy platforming prime. Celeste single-handedly rekindled our love of swift 2D movement, and it never talked down to us while we were getting our bearings. Plus, we never get tired of seeing it featured at GDQ.
