@Jetsplit I've tried being understanding, but this statement just baffles me. That just sounds like he literally said they ran out of ideas when it comes to making unique characters out of pre-existing Mario species. Either that or being lazy, because fans can do that all the time:

Oh my gosh, today my mom found this old birthday card I made for her, and it contains one of my EARLIEST attempts at drawing #Mario! Compared to the first digital drawing I've uploaded online and my most recent picture of Mario, I have DEFINITELY improved over the years!

@OoCPokemon In context, we can assume she's merely joking. But without it... Eeeeeeugh...!

@FromHappyRock I'm not sure how to describe it, but I guess I just really love the range of what feeling each drawing I do conveys. One moment I may draw a cute female OC, the next I'm drawing a totally badass villain. I've improved a lot over the years too!

Here's #Merlux, one more of many fan characters who will be in #SuperMarioJBX! He's the apprentice to #Merlon (in Toad Town), and is very knowledgeable about the world. As a descendant of the Tribe of Ancients however, he's also a bit of a womanizer; single ladies beware!

This here is one of my #Kirby OCs, Crysta Knight! She's a knight on Ripple Star who was appointed after the events of #Kirby64! She was inspired by #MetaKnight from Pop Star, and while she tries to act like him, it's merely a facade. She's actually quite a scaredy cat...!
